| WHEREAS, Family and a host of friends are mourning the | ||
| untimely loss of Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos of El Paso, who passed | ||
| away on July 27, 2013, at the age of 31; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Gonzalo Diaz and Patricia | ||
| Diaz, the former Karla Diaz grew up in El Paso, where she attended | ||
| Saint Clement's Episcopal School and Loretto Academy, graduating | ||
| at the top of her class; she went on to attend Northeast Ohio | ||
| Medical University and to complete a residency in internal | ||
| medicine through the Texas Tech University Health Sciences | ||
| Center at El Paso; most recently, she worked at University | ||
| Hospital in San Antonio as a Fellow in the Pulmonary and Critical | ||
| Care Division, Department of Medicine, University of Texas | ||
| Health Science Center at San Antonio; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Davalos shared a rewarding marriage with her | ||
| husband, Tony, and took tremendous pride in their infant son, | ||
| Pablo; in her leisure time, she loved exploring the world and | ||
| relished especially the ski trips that she and her husband took; | ||
| other favorite activities included biking with her father, | ||
| shopping with her mother, and getting the best of her brother at | ||
| board games; her wide circle of family and friends cherished her | ||
| for her great warmth, compassion, and good humor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Karla Davalos brought to all her endeavors a | ||
| dedication and a generosity of spirit that inspired all who knew | ||
| her, and she will forever be remembered with great tenderness and | ||
| affection; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory | ||
| of Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos and extend sincere sympathy to the | ||
| members of her family: to her husband, Tony Davalos; to her son, | ||
| Pablo Davalos; to her parents, Dr. Gonzalo Diaz and Patricia | ||
| Diaz; to her brother, Gonzalo Diaz; to her grandmothers, Carmen | ||
| Villardaga and Griselda Diaz; and to her many other relatives and | ||
| friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns | ||
| this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos. | ||
