| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in | ||
| recognizing the senior citizens of this state on the occasion of | ||
| Senior Day at the State Capitol in 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Senior Day presents an opportunity for senior | ||
| citizens to come together for discussion of their mutual | ||
| interests and for consultation with their elected officials | ||
| about issues of importance to them, their families, and society | ||
| as a whole; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Seniors are valuable citizens of this state and | ||
| have made many contributions to its progress and welfare; with | ||
| their experience, their wisdom, and their productive careers, | ||
| they have provided innovative ideas, created prosperity through | ||
| hard work, and sustained the economy, paying taxes and | ||
| volunteering in their communities for the benefit of society as a | ||
| whole; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The seniors of this state reflect diverse | ||
| cultural roots and exemplify the spirit of responsibility, | ||
| cooperation, and dedication to the common good that has | ||
| strengthened communities and made this state a better place; the | ||
| people of Texas are indebted to seniors for their lifetime of | ||
| work and for the standards of community service and citizenship | ||
| they have set; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the senior citizens of this | ||
| state for the valuable role they play in our society and extend to | ||
| them best wishes for an enjoyable and rewarding Senior Day at the | ||
| State Capitol; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| them as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
