| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the citizens of Howard County and Texans across the state in | ||
| celebrating February 9, 2011, as Howard County Day at the State | ||
| Capitol; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A regional hub for health care, quality | ||
| education, and job opportunities, Howard County offers an | ||
| outstanding quality of life to its residents; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Howard County is blessed with abundant reserves | ||
| of oil and gas, and with the creation of four wind turbine farms | ||
| it stands poised to remain a leader in the production of energy in | ||
| Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Recognizing their bright future, the people of | ||
| the county seat of Big Spring have approved bonds for | ||
| infrastructure improvements and created a Downtown Historic | ||
| District to provide incentives for redevelopment; restoration is | ||
| already underway on the historic Settles Hotel, and | ||
| McMahon-Wrinkle Airport is undergoing expansion; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The people of Howard County are its most valuable | ||
| resource, and their cooperative spirit, generosity, and warmth | ||
| make it an exceptional place in which to live, work, and raise a | ||
| family; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Howard County on | ||
| their many outstanding contributions to the rich legacy of our | ||
| state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Howard | ||
| County Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
