SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 145
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Rotary Club of Harlingen on the occasion of its
90th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Harlingen was established in
1923; it provides civic-minded professional men and women an
enjoyable and effective way to serve the community and to make a
difference in the world; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has provided
invaluable service and financial support to projects in
Harlingen and around the world; and
WHEREAS, Among the many initiatives it has supported are
the Seat at the Table bleacher installation at the Harlingen Boys
and Girls Club, the Operation Outreach Afghanistan school
supplies drive, the Hands to Honduras school and water project,
and sponsorship of Rotary Interact Clubs; and
WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Harlingen has for nearly a
century played a vital role in the life of the Harlingen
community, and it is truly fitting that it be recognized as it
reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Rotary Club of
Harlingen on their commitment to community service and extend to
them best wishes for a memorable 90th anniversary celebration;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the club as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
