| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Austin Center for Grief and Loss for 10 years of | ||
| outstanding service to the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss is a | ||
| nonprofit organization that was established to assist children | ||
| and adults as they move from loss to life; the center helps them | ||
| to transform their grief by providing them with therapy, support, | ||
| education, training, and consultation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The center was founded in 2007 by Khris Ford to | ||
| honor her late son, Stephen Ford; originally known as My Healing | ||
| Place, it is modeled after Bo's Place, a Houston organization | ||
| established to help children who had lost a loved one; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The center provides a range of services for | ||
| individuals and families who have experienced loss due to the | ||
| death of a loved one and for those who have experienced loss due | ||
| to divorce or separation; it also offers training for school | ||
| counselors and continuing education classes for therapists; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss has had a | ||
| profound impact on the lives of countless people, and it is truly | ||
| fitting that it receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the board of | ||
| directors, therapists, staff, and volunteers of the Austin Center | ||
| for Grief and Loss on their commitment to serving others and extend | ||
| to all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
