	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 130
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, international president of
	Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is speaking at the
	86th Founders' Day Luncheon of the sorority's Alpha Xi Omega
	Chapter on February 21, 2015; and
	WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is an international
	service organization founded in 1908 at Howard University by
	African American college women; and
	WHEREAS, The Alpha Xi Omega Chapter has promoted the Alpha
	Kappa Alpha mission for 86 years through scholarship programs,
	mentoring and counseling, health and social service initiatives,
	and support of emerging cultural and educational institutions; and
	WHEREAS, On the occasion of its 2015 Founders' Day
	Luncheon, the chapter is proud to have as keynote speaker the
	sorority's international president; and
	WHEREAS, Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson is the 29th president of
	Alpha Kappa Alpha; during her years as a sorority member she has
	served as a chartering chapter president, as a director and a
	coordinator on the local and regional levels, and as
	international secretary and international first vice president;
	she is among the longest-serving international officers on the
	international board of directors; and
	WHEREAS, A truly distinguished businesswoman, Dorothy
	Buckhanan Wilson is a senior vice president at Goodwill
	Industries and has been a corporate leader for more than three
	decades; she is involved with numerous service organizations and
	is an outstanding role model for countless professional women;
	now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby commend Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson for her
	exemplary leadership of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and for her
	service as keynote speaker at the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter's 86th
	Founders' Day Luncheon; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
