| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize August Pahmiyer on the occasion of his 100th birthday, | ||
| which is being celebrated on August 26, 2021; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for | ||
| his integrity and generous spirit, and he is a revered citizen of | ||
| our state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Pahmiyer served the nation with distinction | ||
| in the United States Army in World War II as a member of the 821st | ||
| Tank Destroyer Battalion; he earned four Bronze Stars for his | ||
| actions in battles across Europe; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has been blessed with a wonderful family; his | ||
| children, Janet and David Long, and his stepchildren, Mary Lou | ||
| and Paul Kenjura and Clarence and Jill Gerke, are a source of much | ||
| pride and joy for him; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has lived through times and experienced events | ||
| that many people only know through history books, and much can be | ||
| learned from the wisdom he has gained over the years; beloved and | ||
| respected in his Brenham community, he is a member of Saint | ||
| Paul's Lutheran Church, and his faith and his enthusiasm for | ||
| living each day to the fullest is a source of inspiration to | ||
| others; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to August | ||
| Pahmiyer and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 100th | ||
| birthday celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as a memento of this milestone in his life. | ||
