	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is


	WHEREAS, This exceptional nondenominational house of
	worship is the realization of the dream of T. D. Jakes, pastor of
	The Potter's House of Dallas, to place a dynamic church in Fort
	Worth's Woodhaven community; and
	WHEREAS, The church is located in a former shopping center
	and has already begun to play a role in the revitalization of the
	neighborhood; in addition to the church itself, the campus is
	home to a police substation and offers space to such businesses
	as a dental clinic, a medical clinic, and a barbershop; and
	WHEREAS, Under the leadership of its pastor, the Reverend
	Patrick Winfield, The Potter's House of Fort Worth is working to
	engage young people in church activities through a mentorship
	program with local elementary schools; the church also offers a
	Manpower men's program and a women's outreach program known as
	Sisters Helping Other Extraordinary Sisters, or SHOES; and
	WHEREAS, The opening of its Fort Worth campus is a
	reflection of the commitment of The Potter's House to providing
	enlightenment and hope to its members throughout the Metroplex;
	now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
	83rd Legislature, hereby commend The Potter's House of Fort
	Worth on its outstanding work in the community and extend to its
	clergy and membership best wishes for a memorable grand opening
	ceremony; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
