SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Mashad Nair Arora of Brownsville, who recently placed
  sixth at the Scripps National Spelling Bee; and
 
         WHEREAS, An eighth-grader at Resaca Middle School in Los
  Fresnos, Mashad was representing the Rio Grande Valley for the
  second consecutive year in this prestigious competition; and
 
         WHEREAS, Of the 275 participants who had qualified to
  compete in the national spelling bee this year, Mashad was one of
  only 13 young spellers to make it to the finals; and
 
         WHEREAS, A well-rounded young man, Mashad participates in
  spelling, writing, mathematics, and poetry recitation in
  University Interscholastic League competition; he is a member of
  his school's robotics team and its cross-country team and is
  inspired by the art and architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mashad has brought great honor to his family, his
  school, and his community through his outstanding performance at
  the national spelling bee, and he is truly deserving of
  recognition for his many achievements; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Mashad Nair
  Arora on his hard work and dedication and extend to him
  congratulations on placing sixth at the Scripps National
  Spelling Bee; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
