SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Betty Jean Slentz West
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Betty
  Jean Slentz West, who passed away on July 26, 2017, at the age of
  91; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Three Sands, Oklahoma, on March 3, 1926,
  the former Betty Jean Slentz was the daughter of Andrew and
  Bessie Slentz and grew up with the companionship of a brother,
  Leroy, and three sisters, Florence, Helen, and Nita; she was
  joined in matrimony to Jack West in 1944, and the couple shared
  nearly six decades of marriage before his passing; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. West was the proud mother of three children,
  David West, Cecil West, and Nancy Graham; she later welcomed into
  her family five grandchildren, Tracy, Kellie, Shane, Bryan, and
  John, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Courtney, Levi,
  Ashley, Wade, Mason, Hannah, Gavin, and Jack, and five
  great-great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Jace, Macy, Kolby, and
  Hadlee; and
         WHEREAS, In 1965, Mrs. West began her career at Henderson
  Memorial Hospital, and after a notable tenure there that spanned
  16 years, she became a first assistant county auditor for Rusk
  County in 1981; she went on to serve as county treasurer from 1990
  to 1991; following her retirement, she joined her husband in
  working as a gate attendant for the United States Army Corps of
  Engineers in several different states; in their leisure time, the
  couple enjoyed traveling in their motor home with their dog,
  Peanut; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her kindness, her devotion to her
  family, and her dedication to her fellow citizens, Betty West
  lived a caring and purposeful life, and she will forever be
  remembered with deep affection by all who had the good fortune to
  know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Betty Jean Slentz West and extend heartfelt sympathy to her
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Betty West.
