| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates on the | ||
| occasion of its 10th anniversary, which is being celebrated March | ||
| 26, 2011, at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center in Kingsville; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates | ||
| traces its beginning to the efforts of Kleberg County Court Judge | ||
| Martin Chiuminatto, Jr., following the tragic death of a | ||
| 12-year-old boy; the organization was officially formed on March | ||
| 12, 2001, as Court Appointed Special Advocates of Kleberg County, | ||
| with the goal of protecting abused and neglected children; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The organization soon expanded its services to | ||
| include Jim Wells, Brooks, Duval, and Kenedy Counties and assumed | ||
| its current name of Brush Country Court Appointed Special | ||
| Advocates in March of 2005; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Volunteers from the organization have served more | ||
| than 130 children over the last year; the organization is working | ||
| to increase its volunteers in order to ensure that even more | ||
| children receive the help they need to secure a stable, loving | ||
| home; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates | ||
| is truly deserving of recognition for 10 years of compassionate | ||
| service to the most vulnerable members of our society; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Brush Country Court Appointed | ||
| Special Advocates on its compassionate efforts on behalf of | ||
| abused and neglected children and extend to its staff and | ||
| volunteers best wishes for a memorable 10th anniversary | ||
| celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
