SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 124
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Leslie Moss, who has been named the 2014 Texas Big
Sister of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Moss is a longtime community volunteer who
has been working with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lubbock for
three years; she has been a Big Sister to Little Sister Dejanea
for two and one-half years; and
WHEREAS, In their time together, Leslie and Dejanea enjoy a
wide range of recreational activities, and Leslie has instilled
in her Little Sister the importance of giving back to the
community through their work as volunteers with the American
Cancer Society and the Hope Lodge; Leslie has also been a source
of academic support for Dejanea, and Dejanea is now taking an
advanced placement course and is doing well in the class; and
WHEREAS, In addition to serving as a model Big Sister,
Leslie has actively worked to support the Big Brothers Big
Sisters program in Lubbock through volunteer recruitment and
fund-raising endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters provides enriching
opportunities for children who are often limited by social and
economic circumstances, and Leslie Moss is indeed worthy of
recognition for her selfless service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Leslie Moss on her dedication to
Dejanea and to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and
congratulate her on being named the 2014 Texas Big Sister of the
Year; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
