WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize Linda Manuel-Fonteneaux, a 50-year member of Delta | ||
Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by the | ||
Dallas Alumnae Chapter at its Frederica Chase Dodd Founders Day | ||
Celebration on February 4, 2023; and | ||
WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded in 1913 on | ||
the campus of Howard University; the organization strives to | ||
promote academic excellence, provide scholarships, improve | ||
communities, support the underserved, and encourage civic and | ||
political awareness and participation in the establishment of | ||
sound public policy; and | ||
WHEREAS, Linda was inducted into Delta Gamma Chapter of | ||
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in 1972 at Texas Southern University; | ||
over the years, she has remained a loyal member of the sorority | ||
and has served as a mentor and role model to countless sisters; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Linda is truly deserving of recognition for her | ||
longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and for the | ||
important role she has played in helping the Dallas Alumnae | ||
Chapter carry out its mission of empowering people and making a | ||
difference in the Dallas community; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, hereby commend Linda Manuel-Fonteneaux on her many | ||
achievements and extend to her congratulations on being honored | ||
by the Dallas Alumnae Chapter as a 50-year member of Delta Sigma | ||
Theta Sorority; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
