| Christopher Barry | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Christopher Barry, who | ||
| died December 13, 2012, at the age of 65; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Chris Barry was born on November 5, 1947, in | ||
| Blakely, Georgia; he became a highly regarded academician and | ||
| served as a professor at the University of Florida, The | ||
| University of Texas, and Southern Methodist University; in 1988, | ||
| he joined Texas Christian University, where he served with | ||
| distinction for many years and became known as an expert on Third | ||
| World markets; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Barry held the Robert and Maria Lowden Endowed | ||
| Chair in Business Administration at Texas Christian University's | ||
| M. J. Neeley School of Business; as professor emeritus, he | ||
| continued to expand his knowledge of economics and perform | ||
| research in a wide variety of fields; in spite of the malady that | ||
| plagued him in his last years, he consistently sought to achieve | ||
| a greater understanding of the universe, and the courage he | ||
| showed throughout his illness was an inspiration to all who knew | ||
| him; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Barry was a brilliant scholar who was | ||
| dedicated to research, and his passion for learning amazed those | ||
| around him; he was also a generous and kindhearted person who had | ||
| a positive impact on the lives of innumerable people and was | ||
| deeply devoted to his wife, Gayle, his two children, Renee and | ||
| Brent, and his five grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of integrity, warmth, and wisdom, Chris | ||
| Barry embraced both life and his faith with equal fervor; he was | ||
| beloved by many, and he will be greatly missed by all who were | ||
| privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Christopher Barry; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Christopher Barry. | ||
