SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 113
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join the citizens of Howard County and Texans across the state in
celebrating February 23, 2017, as Howard County Day at the
Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Located between the Llano Estacado and the
Edwards Plateau, Howard County is known as a center for diverse
professional fields and industries, including oil and gas
production, health care, education, agriculture, transportation,
and manufacturing; and
WHEREAS, The ongoing development and redevelopment of Big
Spring's historic downtown district has led to an era of
widespread revitalization that has helped communities throughout
the region to thrive; and
WHEREAS, Residents and visitors enjoy an array of
recreational activities found in the trails and green spaces at
Big Spring State Park, Comanche Trail Park, and Moss Lake, and
they can learn about Howard County's colorful past at the
Heritage Museum and at the Hangar 25 Air Museum; and
WHEREAS, Residents of Howard County are devoted to their
communities and to the land that shaped their cities and towns;
they can be justifiably proud of their success in preserving the
area's rich history and in providing a robust quality of life for
all of the county's citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the people of Howard County for their
many contributions to the growth and progress of our state and
extend to them best wishes for an enjoyable Howard County Day at
the Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special day.
