SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 113
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  David Saenz
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of noted architect
  David Saenz, who died October 6, 2010, at the age of 48; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Brownsville, David Saenz
  was born October 16, 1961; he was a 1979 graduate of Homer Hanna
  High School and went on to earn a degree in environmental design
  from Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Saenz was a partner and chief architect for
  the firm of Gomez, Mendez, and Saenz, Incorporated; his
  impressive portfolio includes structures throughout the state
  and nation, including the newest school for the Brownsville
  Independent School District, Veterans Memorial High School; he
  was especially proud of the home he designed for his family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Saenz was active in numerous civic and
  professional organizations; he was a member of the American
  Institute of Architects and the Texas Society of Architects; he
  also served as president of the board of Saint Luke Catholic
  School and was on the building committee of Saint Joseph Academy;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Saenz was an avid golfer and was passionate
  about automobiles, particularly the Ford Mustang; he was
  instrumental in organizing a club called Team Mustang of
  Brownsville to provide a venue for owners to showcase their
  vehicles; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
  gave unselfishly to others, and his perseverance, his generous
  spirit, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest
  will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted son, husband, and father, and he
  leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family and friends of David Saenz; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of David Saenz.
