SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Luis Romero
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Los Fresnos and Cameron County in mourning the loss
  of the Honorable Luis Romero, who died January 19, 2011, at the
  age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Romero's loss will be felt by all in the town
  of Los Fresnos, where he served as Justice of the Peace for
  Cameron County Precinct 6 for 25 years; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Romero was born and raised in Los Fresnos
  and graduated from Los Fresnos High School; he received a degree
  in business administration from Texas Southmost College; and
         WHEREAS, A Korean War veteran, Luis Romero valiantly
  fought on behalf of his country; upon his return from service, he
  joined American Legion Post 632 of Los Fresnos and Veterans of
  Foreign Wars Post 4310 of Harlingen; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his beloved community, Judge Romero was
  a charter member of the Los Fresnos Volunteer Emergency Medical
  Services and was honored as a Paramedic of the Year; he was also
  an active member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church and of the Los
  Fresnos Area Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Romero was also an astute businessman, and
  he and his wife, the late Maria Dora Romero, owned and operated
  Romero Food Store and Gulf Restaurant in Los Fresnos; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Luis Romero was a man of integrity,
  strength, and generosity who gave unselfishly to others, and he
  leaves behind memories that will be deeply treasured by all who
  were privileged to share his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Luis Romero; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Luis Romero.
