SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 102
         WHEREAS, Alan Haynes of Tyler is being inducted into the
  Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame at the 2019 Toyota
  Bassmaster Texas Fest, taking place May 2-6 at Lake Fork; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1997, the Texas Freshwater Fishing
  Hall of Fame is located at the Texas Parks and Wildlife
  Department's Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens; the
  hall of fame honors individuals and organizations that have made
  a lasting contribution to freshwater fishing in the Lone Star
  State; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong sportsman, Alan Haynes founded The
  Sportster Inc. fishing tackle and outdoor sports store in Tyler
  in the 1970s; as the company's president and chief executive
  officer, he demonstrated a forward-thinking and innovative
  approach to business that helped introduce new products to the
  region, and he offered educational opportunities for local
  anglers to learn from world-renowned experts; highly respected
  by his peers, he served as chair of the Nation's Best Sports
  fishing tackle buying committee, and he was an advisory board
  member for Fishing Tackle Retailer magazine; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his professional successes,
  Mr. Haynes has devoted much of his time and energy to charities
  and government organizations that promote conservation and
  inspire youth to become the next generation of fishing and
  hunting enthusiasts; he cofounded the nonprofit Tyler Woods and
  Waters Club, known today as the East Texas Woods and Waters
  Foundation, which helps fund and promote outdoor-related
  activities; through the years, the organization has been central
  to the development of the Tyler Nature Center, the opening of
  public fishing in the Neches River, and the overall increased
  accessibility of recreational opportunities in East Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Haynes has served on a number of Texas Parks
  and Wildlife Department boards and committees, including the
  Freshwater Fishing Advisory Committee, the planning committee
  for the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, and the Texas Parks
  and Wildlife Foundation Kids Fish Program; and
         WHEREAS, For more than 45 years, Alan Haynes has
  distinguished himself through his tireless efforts to promote
  and conserve the recreational fishing resources of the Lone Star
  State, and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Alan Haynes on his induction
  into the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Haynes as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
