| WHEREAS, Eddie Garner Clement, an esteemed member of the | ||
| Paris, Texas, community and a friend to many, passed away on January | ||
| 19, 2021, at the age of 55; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Ted Garner Clement and Carol Ann Clement, | ||
| Eddie Clement was born on August 7, 1965, in Dallas and grew up in | ||
| Duncanville with a sister, Eva; he completed his bachelor of | ||
| business administration degree in management at The University of | ||
| Texas at Arlington, where he made lasting friendships as a member of | ||
| Phi Delta Theta and discovered his love of music and entertainment; | ||
| through the years, he delighted in acting as DJ for any event and | ||
| always knew exactly what to play to make everyone happy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Clement embarked on a career with the Sonic | ||
| Drive-In chain, and he was a member of the board of Lamar National | ||
| Bank; giving generously of his time and expertise, he also served on | ||
| the boards of numerous civic organizations, among them Denver | ||
| Pyle's Children's Charities, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, | ||
| the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Boys & | ||
| Girls Club of Paris, which included him on its Wall of Honor; he was | ||
| a valued congregant of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a | ||
| third-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clement shared a | ||
| fulfilling marriage of 26 years with his wife, Monica Homer | ||
| Clement, and he was the proud father of three children, Avery, | ||
| Mollie, and Adam; in his free time, he liked a good round of golf, | ||
| but above all, he enjoyed helping others in any way he could; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Eddie Clement lived a caring and purposeful life, | ||
| and although he is deeply missed by those he left behind, they will | ||
| forever cherish their memories of his warmth and kindness; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 87th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby pay tribute to the life of Eddie Garner Clement and extend | ||
| sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of | ||
| Eddie Garner Clement. | ||
