| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 6.412(e), Tax Code, is amended to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (e) A person who has served for all or part of three | ||
| consecutive terms as a board member on an appraisal review board is | ||
| ineligible to serve on the [ |

| that begins on the next January 1 following the third of those | ||
| consecutive terms. The limitation prescribed by this subsection | ||
| does not apply to a member of the appraisal review board of an | ||
| appraisal district established for a county having a population of | ||
| less than 100,000 if, at the time the board member's term expires, | ||
| there is no person seeking appointment to the board who is eligible | ||
| under this subchapter to serve on the board and who could fill that | ||
| member's position on the board. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
