A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the modification of an order establishing the
conservatorship of a child.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 156.101, Family Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) Notwithstanding Subsection (a) or any other provision
of this subchapter, in a suit filed under this subchapter seeking to
modify an order that provides for the appointment of a conservator
of a child, Section 153.131 applies.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a suit to modify an order establishing a child's conservatorship
pending in a trial court on or filed on or after the effective date
of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
