A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to county participation in a program for improvement of
collection of court costs, fees, and fines imposed in criminal
cases.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Article 103.0033, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
amended by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to
read as follows:
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (b-1), this [This]
article applies only to:
(1) a county with a population of 50,000 or greater;
and
(2) a municipality with a population of 100,000 or
greater.
(b-1) This article does not apply to a county with a
population of less than 60,000 that contains four or more
confinement facilities operated by the Texas Department of Criminal
Justice.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
