| relating to the authority of a municipality or county to regulate | ||

| natural gas or propane. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 250, Local Government Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 250.014 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 250.014. CERTAIN REGULATIONS OF NATURAL GAS OR PROPANE | ||
| APPLIANCES PROHIBITED. (a) A municipality or county may not adopt | ||
| or enforce an ordinance, order, or other regulation that prohibits | ||
| or restricts, directly or indirectly, the use of an appliance, | ||
| system, or component that is fueled by natural gas or propane in the | ||
| construction, renovation, maintenance, or alteration of a | ||
| residential or commercial building. | ||
| (b) This section does not prohibit a municipality or county | ||
| from using an appliance, system, or component powered by any energy | ||
| source on property owned by the municipality or county. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
