| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 223.001, Human Resources Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (d-1) The department shall reimburse a county that does not | ||
| have a juvenile detention facility for the cost per day of housing | ||
| children who have been committed to the department but have not yet | ||
| been admitted or transferred to the department. The department by | ||
| rule shall establish application and eligibility requirements for a | ||
| county to receive reimbursement under this subsection. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
