| by state agencies. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 521.205, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | ||
| (e) A state agency may not develop or provide a driver | ||
| education course, including course materials, under this section | ||
| directly or through contract. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by Section 521.205, | ||
| Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to a | ||
| driver education course approved under that section for which | ||
| materials are purchased on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| A course for which materials are purchased before the effective | ||
| date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date course | ||
| materials were purchased, and that law is continued in effect for | ||
| that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
