| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 41.66(f), Tax Code, is amended to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (f) A member of the appraisal review board may not | ||
| communicate with another person concerning: | ||
| (1) the evidence, argument, facts, merits, or any | ||
| other matters related to an owner's protest, except during the | ||
| hearing on the protest; [ |
||
| (2) a property that is the subject of the protest, | ||
| except during a hearing on another protest or other proceeding | ||
| before the board at which the property is compared to other property | ||
| or used in a sample of properties; or | ||
| (3) a factual or hypothetical situation that is | ||
| substantially similar to a situation that is the subject of the | ||
| protest, except during the hearing on the protest. | ||
| SECTION 2. (a) The change in law made by this Act applies | ||
| only to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this | ||
| Act. For purposes of this section, an offense is committed before | ||
| the effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurs | ||
| before that date. | ||
| (b) An offense committed before the effective date of this | ||
| Act is covered by the law in effect when the offense was committed, | ||
| and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
