| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter K, Chapter 659, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 659.2621 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 659.2621. ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN | ||
| LEGISLATIVE EMPLOYEES. Without regard to whether an employee is | ||
| employed or will be employed in a classified position under Chapter | ||
| 654, a state agency in the legislative branch of state government | ||
| may provide a one-time recruitment payment to an agency employee | ||
| under Section 659.262 and may enter into a deferred compensation | ||
| contract with an agency employee who is considered to be essential | ||
| for the agency's operations under Section 659.262. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
