| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 264.908. CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE AGREEMENTS. (a) The | ||
| department shall, subject to the availability of funds, enter into | ||
| a caregiver assistance agreement under Section 264.755 with a | ||
| caregiver who has a family income that is less than or equal to 300 | ||
| percent of the federal poverty level who enters into a parental | ||
| child safety placement to provide monetary assistance to the | ||
| caregiver for the duration of the parental child safety placement. | ||
| (b) The department shall provide written notice to the | ||
| parental child safety placement caregiver about the availability of | ||
| and eligibility requirements for monetary assistance under this | ||
| section at the earlier of the date: | ||
| (1) the parental child safety placement agreement is | ||
| signed; or | ||
| (2) the child is placed with the caregiver. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
