| relating to the minimum standards for the certifications of sexual | ||
| assault training programs and sexual assault nurse examiners and | ||
| for certification renewal by those entities. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subdivision (6), Section 420.003, Government | ||
| Code, is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (6) "Sexual assault nurse examiner" means a registered | ||
| nurse who has completed a service-approved examiner training course | ||
| and who is certified according to minimum standards prescribed by | ||
| attorney general rule. | ||
| SECTION 2. Subsections (b) and (c), Section 420.011, | ||
| Government Code, are amended to read as follows: | ||
| (b) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing | ||
| minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault | ||
| training program and the renewal of that certification by the | ||
| program. The certification is valid for two years from the date of | ||
| issuance. The attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing | ||
| minimum standards for the suspension, decertification, or | ||
| probation of a training program that violates this chapter. | ||
| (c) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing | ||
| minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault nurse | ||
| examiner and the renewal of that certification by the nurse | ||
| examiner, including standards for examiner training courses and for | ||
| the interstate reciprocity of sexual assault nurse examiners. The | ||
| certification is valid for two years from the date of issuance. The | ||
| attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing minimum | ||
| standards for the suspension, decertification, or probation of a | ||
| sexual assault nurse examiner who violates this chapter. | ||
| SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2011, the attorney | ||
| general shall adopt the rules required by Subsections (b) and (c), | ||
| Section 420.011, Government Code, as amended by this Act. | ||
| SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
