relating to the minimum standards for the certifications of sexual | ||
assault training programs and sexual assault nurse examiners and | ||
for certification renewal by those entities. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subdivision (6), Section 420.003, Government | ||
Code, is amended to read as follows: | ||
(6) "Sexual assault nurse examiner" means a registered | ||
nurse who has completed a service-approved examiner training course | ||
and who is certified according to minimum standards prescribed by | ||
attorney general rule. | ||
SECTION 2. Subsections (b) and (c), Section 420.011, | ||
Government Code, are amended to read as follows: | ||
(b) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing | ||
minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault | ||
training program and the renewal of that certification by the | ||
program. The certification is valid for two years from the date of | ||
issuance. The attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing | ||
minimum standards for the suspension, decertification, or | ||
probation of a training program that violates this chapter. | ||
(c) The attorney general shall adopt rules establishing | ||
minimum standards for the certification of a sexual assault nurse | ||
examiner and the renewal of that certification by the nurse | ||
examiner, including standards for examiner training courses and for | ||
the interstate reciprocity of sexual assault nurse examiners. The | ||
certification is valid for two years from the date of issuance. The | ||
attorney general shall also adopt rules establishing minimum | ||
standards for the suspension, decertification, or probation of a | ||
sexual assault nurse examiner who violates this chapter. | ||
SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2011, the attorney | ||
general shall adopt the rules required by Subsections (b) and (c), | ||
Section 420.011, Government Code, as amended by this Act. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
