| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 661, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 661.922 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 661.922. RESERVE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. (a) In | ||
| this section, "reserve law enforcement officer" has the meaning | ||
| assigned by Section 1701.001, Occupations Code. | ||
| (b) A state employee who is a reserve law enforcement | ||
| officer is entitled to a leave of absence without a deduction in | ||
| salary to attend training required under Section 1701.351, | ||
| Occupations Code. Leave without deduction in salary under this | ||
| section may not exceed five working days every fiscal biennium. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
