| certain offices concurrently. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 180, Local Government Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 180.0055 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 180.0055. ELIGIBILITY OF CERTAIN ELECTED OR APPOINTED | ||
| OFFICERS TO HOLD CERTAIN OTHER OFFICES. (a) This section applies | ||
| only to an elected or appointed office of a political subdivision | ||
| authorized to impose a tax or issue bonds. This section applies only | ||
| to the extent it does not conflict with a provision of the state | ||
| constitution. | ||
| (b) An officer who holds an office to which this section | ||
| applies is not eligible to hold at the same time another office to | ||
| which this section applies. | ||
| SECTION 2. Not later than the effective date of this Act, an | ||
| officer who holds more than one office in violation of Section | ||
| 180.0055, Local Government Code, as added by this Act, shall | ||
| resign, effective on that date, from each office necessary to allow | ||
| the officer to be in compliance with the requirement of that | ||
| section. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
