A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to posting notice of a meeting of a governmental body on
  the Internet instead of in a newspaper.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 551.057 to read as follows:
         Sec. 551.057.  INTERNET POSTING INSTEAD OF NEWSPAPER
  POSTING. Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental body that
  is required by law to post notice of a meeting in a newspaper may
  instead post notice of the meeting on the Internet. A governmental
  body that is required by law to post notice of a meeting on the
  Internet is not required to post notice in a newspaper.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to
  notice of a meeting that is required to be posted on or after the
  effective date of this Act. Notice that is required to be posted
  before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in
  effect at that time, and that law is continued in effect for that
  purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
