| relating to posting notice of a meeting of a governmental body on | ||
| the Internet instead of in a newspaper. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 551.057 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 551.057. INTERNET POSTING INSTEAD OF NEWSPAPER | ||
| POSTING. Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental body that | ||
| is required by law to post notice of a meeting in a newspaper may | ||
| instead post notice of the meeting on the Internet. A governmental | ||
| body that is required by law to post notice of a meeting on the | ||
| Internet is not required to post notice in a newspaper. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to | ||
| notice of a meeting that is required to be posted on or after the | ||
| effective date of this Act. Notice that is required to be posted | ||
| before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in | ||
| effect at that time, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
| purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
