| relating to the suspension of the license of a dishonorably | ||

| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) The commission shall suspend the license of an officer | ||
| licensed under this chapter on notification that the officer has | ||
| been dishonorably discharged [ |

| SECTION 2. (a) In this section, "dishonorably discharged" | ||
| has the meaning assigned by Section 1701.452, Occupations Code. | ||
| (b) Section 1701.4521(a), Occupations Code, as amended by | ||
| this Act, applies only to the suspension of a license issued under | ||
| Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, for a law enforcement officer who | ||
| is dishonorably discharged on or after the effective date of this | ||
| Act. The suspension of a license for a law enforcement officer who | ||
| is dishonorably discharged before the effective date of this Act is | ||
| governed by the law as it existed immediately before the effective | ||
| date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that | ||
| purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
