| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 66.057, Election Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) Voted ballots are confidential and not subject to | ||
| disclosure under Chapter 552, Government Code, until after the | ||
| expiration of the preservation period prescribed by Section | ||
| 66.058(a). | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
| to a request for public information received by a governmental body | ||
| or an officer for public information under Chapter 552, Government | ||
| Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
