BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 48, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 48.157 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 48.157. REMOTE EDUCATION AND DISTANCE LEARNING | ||
ALLOTMENT. (a) A school district is entitled to an annual allotment | ||
in the amount provided by appropriation for each student in average | ||
daily attendance to be used as provided by Subsection (b). | ||
(b) Funds allocated under this section must be used to | ||
improve access to remote education and distance learning, including | ||
to pay the costs associated with remote education and distance | ||
learning technology. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 12.106(a-4), Education Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(a-4) In addition to the funding provided by Subsections | ||
(a), (a-2), and (a-3), a charter holder is entitled to receive | ||
funding for the open-enrollment charter school under Sections | ||
48.110 and 48.112 and Subchapter D, Chapter 48, other than the | ||
allotment under Section 48.157, if the charter holder would be | ||
entitled to the funding if the school were a school district. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
