| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 157.021, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) This section does not limit the authority of the | ||
| commissioners court of a county to adopt or enforce a work period of | ||
| up to 28 days for peace officers employed by the county in | ||
| accordance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 | ||
| U.S.C. Section 207). | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 157.022, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) This section does not apply to a peace officer | ||
| commissioned by a county that has adopted a work period of longer | ||
| than seven days for those peace officers in accordance with the | ||
| federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. Section 207). | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
