A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to election of the board of directors of the Deaf Smith
County Hospital District.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 1020.051(c), Special District Local Laws
Code, is amended to read as follows:
(c) An election shall be held on the uniform election date
in November [May] of each appropriate year to elect the appropriate
number of directors.
SECTION 2. (a) At the election of the board of directors of
the Deaf Smith County Hospital District scheduled to be held in
November 2018, all board member positions will be up for election.
The terms of the directors serving immediately before the date of
the election expire on the date a majority of the directors elected
at the November 2018 election have qualified for office.
(b) The members of the board of directors elected in
November 2018 under Subsection (a) of this section shall draw lots
to determine which three directors shall serve two-year terms and
which four directors shall serve three-year terms.
(c) Successor directors shall serve three-year terms.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2018.
