| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 434.032, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (a) In a county with a population of 200,000 or more, the | ||
| commissioners court shall maintain a veterans county service | ||
| office. The office must: | ||
| (1) be separate and distinct from other county | ||
| offices; | ||
| (2) be staffed by at least one full-time employee; and | ||
| (3) except as provided by Subsection (c), report | ||
| directly to the commissioners court. | ||
| (c) A commissioners court that maintains a veterans county | ||
| service office may order the office to report directly to the | ||
| county's chief administrator. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
