BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 434.032, Government Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a) In a county with a population of 200,000 or more, the | ||
commissioners court shall maintain a veterans county service | ||
office. The office must: | ||
(1) be separate and distinct from other county | ||
offices; | ||
(2) be staffed by at least one full-time employee; and | ||
(3) except as provided by Subsection (c), report | ||
directly to the commissioners court. | ||
(c) A commissioners court that maintains a veterans county | ||
service office may order the office to report directly to the | ||
county's chief administrator. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
