A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the creation of additional judicial districts composed
  of Brazoria County.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Sections 24.60035 and 24.60036 to read as
  follows:
         Sec. 24.60035.  490TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZORIA COUNTY).  
  The 490th Judicial District is composed of Brazoria County. 
         Sec. 24.60036.  491ST JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZORIA COUNTY).  
  The 491st Judicial District is composed of Brazoria County.
         SECTION 2.  The 490th and 491st Judicial Districts are
  created the earliest of:
               (1)  the effective date of this Act, if the
  commissioner's court of Brazoria County submits on or before that
  date a resolution to the Office of Court Administration of the Texas
  Judicial System stating that the Brazoria County Courthouse has
  sufficient office space to house both the 490th and 491st Judicial
  Districts;
               (2)  the date the commissioner's court of Brazoria
  County submits a resolution to the Office of Court Administration
  of the Texas Judicial System stating that the Brazoria County
  Courthouse has sufficient office space to house both the 490th and
  491st judicial districts, if the commissioner's court submits the
  resolution after the effective date of this Act; or
               (3)  October 1, 2025.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
