| offenses; creating a criminal offense. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 46.04, Penal Code, is amended by adding | ||
| Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (a-1) A person who has been placed on deferred adjudication | ||
| community supervision for a felony listed in Article 42A.054(a), | ||
| Code of Criminal Procedure, commits an offense if the person | ||
| possesses a firearm during the person's period of supervision. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | ||
| person on deferred adjudication community supervision on or after | ||
| the effective date of this Act, regardless of whether the person was | ||
| placed on deferred adjudication community supervision before, on, | ||
| or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
