| software for state agencies. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 2054, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 2054.0526 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 2054.0526. SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT, HOSTING, AND | ||
| MANAGEMENT. (a) In this section, "state agency" means a | ||
| department, commission, board, office, council, authority, or | ||
| other agency in the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of | ||
| state government that is created by the constitution or a statute of | ||
| this state, including a university system or institution of higher | ||
| education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code. | ||
| (b) The department shall: | ||
| (1) provide for the coordinated development, hosting, | ||
| and management of computer software for state agencies; and | ||
| (2) develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the | ||
| coordinated development, hosting, and management systems of | ||
| software used by state agencies that eliminates duplicative | ||
| responsibilities with respect to software development, hosting, | ||
| and management. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
