A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to ad valorem tax protests and appeals.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 41, Tax Code, is amended by
  adding Section 41.445 to read as follows:
         Sec. 41.445.  INFORMAL CONFERENCE.  (a)  A property owner
  who files a notice of protest may request an informal conference
  with the appraisal office before a hearing on the protest under
  Section 41.45.  The request must be in writing and must be delivered
  to the appraisal office not later than the 15th day before the date
  of the scheduled hearing on the protest.  The appraisal office shall
  meet with the property owner if the office receives a timely request
  under this section.
         (b)  An appraisal office may not hold an informal conference
  with a property owner who has not filed a notice of protest.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
