discrepancy between the number of voters accepted and the ballots | ||
cast in an election. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 67.004, Election Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: | ||
(g) The canvassing authority may not enter a tabulation | ||
under Subsection (c) or deliver a tabulation under Subsections (e) | ||
and (f) if a discrepancy between the total number of ballots cast in | ||
the precinct and the total number of voters who cast a ballot for a | ||
candidate or for or against a measure in the election in the | ||
precinct is greater than one percent until the presiding officer of | ||
the canvassing authority posts an explanation of the discrepancy on | ||
the canvassing authority's Internet website. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
