| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, is amended by adding Section | ||
| 552.155 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 552.155. EXCEPTION: BULK DATA COMPILED THROUGH THE | ||
| ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE. (a) Public information that | ||
| is produced, collected, assembled, or maintained by a governmental | ||
| body through the administration of criminal justice is exempted | ||
| from bulk dissemination. | ||
| (b) In this section: | ||
| (1) "Administration of criminal justice" has the | ||
| meaning assigned by Article 60.01, Code of Criminal Procedure; | ||
| (2) "Bulk dissemination" means the production by a | ||
| governmental body of information obtained by the body through the | ||
| administration of criminal justice that relates to offenses | ||
| committed by 10 or more separate individuals. | ||
| SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect immediately it | ||
| receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each | ||
| house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. | ||
| If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate | ||
| effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
