| relating to a study to identify and address inefficiencies in state | ||
| health care regulations. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. (a) The Health and Human Services Commission | ||
| shall conduct a study to identify redundant, inefficient, or | ||
| obsolete health care regulations and shall make recommendations to | ||
| the legislature for revising or eliminating the regulations to | ||
| improve the delivery of health care in the state. | ||
| (b) The executive commissioner of the Health and Human | ||
| Services Commission: | ||
| (1) shall hold public meetings as necessary to receive | ||
| testimony from stakeholders and to develop the recommendations | ||
| required by Subsection (a) of this section; and | ||
| (2) may seek assistance in evaluating testimony and | ||
| developing recommendations from the Department of State Health | ||
| Services, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, any | ||
| other agency that regulates health care, and any board that | ||
| regulates health care professionals. | ||
| (c) Not later than September 1, 2018, the executive | ||
| commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall | ||
| submit a report to the legislature containing conclusions regarding | ||
| the effectiveness of the state's health care regulations and | ||
| recommendations for revising or eliminating ineffective | ||
| regulations. | ||
| (d) This section expires January 1, 2019. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
