relating to the appointment of a state cybersecurity coordinator. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 2054, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subchapter O to read as follows: | ||
SUBCHAPTER O. STATE CYBERSECURITY | ||
Sec. 2054.551. CYBERSECURITY COORDINATOR. The executive | ||
director shall designate an employee of the department as the state | ||
cybersecurity coordinator to oversee cybersecurity matters for | ||
this state. | ||
Sec. 2054.552. PRIVATE INDUSTRY-GOVERNMENT COUNCIL. The | ||
state cybersecurity coordinator may establish a council that | ||
includes public and private sector leaders and cybersecurity | ||
practitioners to collaborate on matters of cybersecurity | ||
concerning this state. | ||
Sec. 2054.553. CYBERSECURITY APPROVAL SEAL. The state | ||
cybersecurity coordinator may establish a voluntary program that | ||
recognizes private and public entities functioning with exemplary | ||
cybersecurity practices. | ||
Sec. 2054.554. RECOMMENDATIONS. The state cybersecurity | ||
coordinator may implement any portion or all of the recommendations | ||
made by the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development | ||
Council under Subchapter N. | ||
SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2013, the executive | ||
director of the Department of Information Resources shall designate | ||
a state cybersecurity coordinator, as required by Section 2054.551, | ||
Government Code, as added by this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
legislative session. | ||
