| WHEREAS, The members of the 2005 Trinity High School football | ||
| team were inducted into the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Sports Hall of | ||
| Fame on February 16, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since 1995, the H-E-B Sports Hall of Fame has paid | ||
| tribute to individuals and teams who have made a positive impact in | ||
| the community through sports-related endeavors; the hall was | ||
| created to honor successful teams and athletes as well as | ||
| officials, administrators, trainers, medical practitioners, media | ||
| figures, and others who have distinguished themselves with their | ||
| achievements; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The 2005 Trojans realized an exceptional milestone | ||
| by becoming the first Trinity football team to win a state | ||
| championship, claiming the University Interscholastic League 5A | ||
| Division 1 title and finishing with a near-perfect 14-1 record; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Steve Lineweaver, the Trojans | ||
| featured a high-scoring offense that averaged 45 points per game; | ||
| on the other side of the ball, the ferocious Trinity defense notched | ||
| a pair of shutouts and held its opponents to a total of 34 points in | ||
| the final three play-off games that secured the state crown; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This dynamic group of young men is also noteworthy | ||
| for introducing the haka as a Trojan tradition; an ancient | ||
| Polynesian war dance symbolizing pride and unity, the haka made its | ||
| debut before the first game of the 2005 season and remains an | ||
| inspiring and beloved part of the team's pregame warm-up; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In attaining its first football title, Trinity High | ||
| School announced its arrival as a gridiron powerhouse, and the | ||
| Trojans have gone on to claim two additional state championships in | ||
| the years since; that initial march through the play-offs continues | ||
| to be a cherished memory for everyone associated with Trinity | ||
| football, and the 2005 team is indeed deserving of this prestigious | ||
| honor; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the 2005 Trinity | ||
| Trojans football team on their induction into the | ||
| Hurst-Euless-Bedford Sports Hall of Fame and extend to them sincere | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared | ||
| for the former teammates as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
