	H.R. No. 992



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The members of the West High School Lady Trojan
	powerlifting team turned in an exceptional performance at the Texas
	High School Powerlifting Association Region II Championship on
	March 5, 2011, in Gatesville; and
	WHEREAS, Jodi Brown claimed first place in the 132-pound
	class by tallying a total of 770 pounds in the three lift categories
	of squat, bench press, and dead lift; and
	WHEREAS, In the over-220-pound class, Candice Cardenas
	finished 8th by hefting a total of 850 pounds, and among the
	198-pound lifters Toni Jewell placed 12th with 600 pounds; Ms.
	Brown, Ms. Cardenas, and Ms. Jewell all qualified for the state meet
	as a result of their fine showing at the regional event; and
	WHEREAS, The Lady Trojans, who tied with Brady High for 10th
	place in the team standings, also benefited from the contributions
	of the other two team members at the meet; Madison Wolf was the
	10th-place finisher in the 114-pound class, lifting 570 pounds,
	while Lillian Aguilar was 7th in the 181-pound class, clearing a
	total of 730 pounds; and
	WHEREAS, With the assistance of head coach Sandy Dickerson,
	these young athletes have demonstrated admirable determination and
	an enduring commitment to excellence during the 2011 season, and
	they may take justifiable pride in their achievements; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
	Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the West High School
	Lady Trojan powerlifting team on their performance at the THSPA
	Region II Championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for
	continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
