R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School
  District furthered its reputation for academic excellence in 2016,
  as 16 of its elementary schools earned all the Texas Education
  Agency distinction designations for which they were eligible; and
         WHEREAS, Every year, schools that receive the highest
  accountability rating from TEA are eligible for distinction
  designations, which the agency awards based on outstanding
  performance relative to a group of 40 campuses of similar type,
  size, and student demographics; and
         WHEREAS, With 16 schools sweeping distinction designations,
  Edinburg CISD garnered the most honors of any district in South
  Texas; those ECISD campuses so recognized are Austin, Avila,
  Canterbury, De La Vina, De Escandon, Flores-Zapata, Gorena, Guerra,
  Jefferson, Lincoln, Magee, Ramirez, San Carlos, Trevino, Truman,
  and Villarreal Elementary Schools; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy feat is a testament to the hard work
  and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the administrators,
  faculty, staff, and students of Edinburg CISD, and they all may
  indeed take great pride in this achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Edinburg Consolidated
  Independent School District on having 16 elementary schools earn
  their full complement of distinction designations from the Texas
  Education Agency; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
