| WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced | ||
| by a great and enduring love, Rufus and Betty Ruth Hurley of Temple | ||
| celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 25, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, "Bud" Hurley and the former Betty Ruth Higdon were | ||
| united in matrimony in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1951; through the | ||
| years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made | ||
| even richer with the addition of their daughter, Renee Vanderpool, | ||
| and two grandsons; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Hurley retired | ||
| from Sun Oil Company after 35 years as an offshore helicopter pilot; | ||
| Mrs. Hurley was employed by Sears for more than two decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the | ||
| world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife | ||
| have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the | ||
| strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges | ||
| and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Rufus and Betty Ruth Hurley on | ||
| their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hurley as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
